If you haven’t been living under a rock ,then you would know that this COVID-19 pandemic has left so many Americans without jobs. If this pandemic has taught me anything, it definitely opened my eyes to the importance of having different streams of income-preferably online income. While having online income is a different story for another day, I do want to share 5 different REAL ways to keep afloat until you are able to get back to some sort of financial normalcy.

1. FILING FOR UNEMPLOYMENT/STIMULUS CHECKS

Yes, unemployment rates are through the roof right now, but if you can, you should definitely apply. A mass influx of applications is slowing down the process of applying and actually getting your money. However; with the extra unemployment benefit of $600/ week that is added to your unemployment rate, the wait is worth it in the long run.

Stimulus checks from the government have also been an added help for most families. Even though these checks are also taking their dear sweet time getting to the accounts of most Americans, there are reports that more money may be headed our way in the coming quarantined months.

2. Grants

Since the beginning of quarantine, I’ve seen numerous grants from so many different industries. I wouldn’t get my hopes too high with grants. Millions of unemployed Americans are applying which are causing servers to crash and some not even getting to the application page because of it. However it wouldn’t hurt to take an hour out of your day to apply if you can. The following is a website with a comprehensive list of grants specifically for those who are unemployed due to COVID-19:

3. Amazon

Amazon is hiring immediately! Amazon isn’t really looking so prime anymore. With most of the country ordered to stay inside, many people are relying on deliveries to avoid going out. Depending on your state, many of the listed jobs are virtual jobs. You can also work in the warehouse, but for many who are trying to social distance, this may not be an option for you.

4. Amazon Flex

This is another cool Amazon opportunity that involves using your own car to deliver Amazon packages. This program is called Amazon Flex and quite a few people are recommending this as an amazing side hustle and have been very successful with it.

All you really need to do is report to a warehouse, pack your car, and start the delivery process. You are able to make your own hours and make pretty decent money depending on how often you deliver. For more information, check out the application page: https://flex.amazon.com/

5. FOOD DELIVERY

I’m pretty sure you have heard of Postmates, UberEats, DoorDash, etc. Now more than ever, drivers are needed! There’s no such thing as sit down dining during these times, and many people just aren’t ready to give up their favorite food from their favorite restaurants. You really don’t have to make contact with the customer. Instead, you can set it on their doorstep and let them know it has arrived. Many food delivery apps have already instilled the contactless delivery feature.

So these are the 5 job options that have proven to be successful. These five options are not the only options available, but they are far from being scams like most of the ones I have researched. Good luck on the job hunt, and stay encouraged!
